การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพและปัญหาเกี่ยวกับมารยาทของนักศึกษา 2) หาแนวทาง และดำเนินการพัฒนามารยาทของนักศึกษา และ 3) ติดตาม และประเมินผลการพัฒนามารยาทของนักศึกษา ในนักศึกษาคณะศึกษาศาสตร์มหาวิทยาลัยสะหวันนะเขต สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว  โดยใช้การวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการแบบมีส่วนร่วม  4  ขั้นตอน คือ ขั้นการวางแผน ขั้นการปฏิบัติ ขั้นการสังเกตการณ์ และขั้นสะท้อนกลับ กลุ่มเป้าหมายประกอบด้วย กลุ่มผู้ร่วมวิจัย จำนวน 11 คน ประกอบด้วย  คณบดีคณะศึกษาศาสตร์  จำนวน  1  คน  อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา จำนวน  5  คนตัวแทนคณะกรรมการนักศึกษา  จำนวน  5  คน  กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูล  จำนวน  23  คน  ประกอบด้วย  หัวหน้าวิชาการคณะศึกษาศาสตร์  จำนวน  3  คน อาจารย์ประจำคณะศึกษาศาสตร์  จำนวน  15  คน ตัวแทนคณะกรรมการนักศึกษาได้มาโดยเลือกแบบเจาะจง  จำนวน  5  คน วิทยากรที่มาอบรมและให้ความรู้แก่นักศึกษา  2  คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ได้แก่ แบบสังเกต แบบสอบถาม แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบประเมินและแบบบันทึก สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และ ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1. สภาพและปัญหาเกี่ยวกับมารยาทของนักศึกษาคณะศึกษาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสะหวันนะเขต พบว่า 

1.1 สภาพนักศึกษาส่วนหนึ่งที่มีมารยาทที่จะต้องพัฒนา ได้แก่ การพูดสนทนาระหว่างเพื่อน อาจารย์ ได้แก่ พูดไม่สุภาพ ไม่มีหางเสียง ขาดการแสดงความเคารพกับเพื่อน ผู้อาวุโส ครูอาจารย์ การเดินสวนทางกับผู้อาวุโส อาจารย์ส่วนมากนักศึกษาไม่มีการน้อมศีรษะ การนั่งในที่ประชุมส่วนมากไม่อยู่ในอาการสำรวม มีการพูดคุยในขณะประชุม การยืนคุยกับผู้อาวุโส นักเรียนยังขาดความอ่อนน้อมถ่อมตน การรับประทานอาหารส่วนมากยังมีการพูดคุย เคี้ยวอาหารมีเสียงดัง และการต้อนรับแขกนักศึกษายังขาดประสบการณ์ 

1.2 ปัญหาและสาเหตุมาจากนักศึกษาไม่เชื่อฟังคำสอนของผู้ปกครอง ครูอาจารย์ เนื่องจากสภาพแวดล้อม ชุมชน สังคม ที่อยู่อาศัย และวัฒนธรรมที่หลากหลายแตกต่างกัน ตลอดทั้งอาจารย์ในมหาวิทยาลัยขาดการดูแลเอาใจใส่นักศึกษาอย่างจริงจัง

2. แนวทางการพัฒนามารยาทของนักศึกษาคณะศึกษาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสะหวันนะเขต ตามแนวทางการพัฒนา  6  กิจกรรม  ได้แก่  1) การประชุมระดมสมอง 2) การอบรม 3) การประชุมปฏิบัติการ 4) การสอนสอดแทรกในวิชาที่เรียน 5) การใช้เทคนิคการเสริมแรง และ 6) การนิเทศติดตามและประเมินผล เพื่อพัฒนาให้นักศึกษามีมารยาทในการพูด มารยาทในการฟัง มารยาทในการทำความเคารพ มารยาทในการเดิน มารยาทในการยืน มารยาทในการนั่ง มารยาทในการรับประทานอาหาร และมารยาทในการต้อนรับแขก

3. การติดตามและประเมินผลการศึกษาการพัฒนามารยาทของนักศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยสะหวันนะเขต  พบว่า  อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา อาจารย์ประจำวิชา นักศึกษามีความพึงพอใจต่อการพัฒนาโดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก และสามารถปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมที่พึงประสงค์ โดยใช้แบบสังเกต แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบสอบถาม แบบประเมินความพึงพอใจมารยาททั้ง 8 ด้านกล่าวคือ 1) นักศึกษาใช้คำพูดที่สุภาพมากขึ้น 2) การพูดคุยกันในห้องเรียนหรือที่ประชุมลดน้อยลง 3) นักศึกษาเมื่อเดินกับผู้ใหญ่ก็เดินในอาการสำรวม 4) การยืนเข้าแถวเคารพธงชาติมีขั้นตอนในการปฏิบัติที่ถูกวิธี 5) การนั่งเก้าอี้ต่อหน้าผู้ใหญ่หรืออาจารย์อยู่ในอาการสำรวม 6) ขณะเดินไปและกลับจากมหาวิทยาลัย นักศึกษาสามารถแสดงออกโดยการไหว้อาจารย์ทั้งก่อนและกลับจากมหาวิทยาลัย 7) การรับประทานอาหารในมหาวิทยาลัย ในบ้าน นักศึกษามีมารยาทที่พึงประสงค์ และ 8) การต้อนรับแขกของนักศึกษาในมหาวิทยาลัย ในบ้าน นักศึกษาแสดงออกด้วยการมีไมตรีในการต้อนรับตามขนบธรรมเนียม ประเพณีนิยม

The purposes of this study were to 1) investigate states and problems in the social etiquette of the students,  2) find out guidelines on developing the students’ social etiquette, and 3) monitor and evaluate the development of the social etiquette of the students in the Faculty of Education at Savannakhet University, Lao People's Democratic Republic. This participatory action research consisted of four main stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The target group included 11 research group comprising dean of the Faculty of Education, 5 instructor-advisors, and 5 representatives from the Student Committee as well as 23 informants including 3academic heads in the Faculty of Education,  15 instructors in the Faculty and 5 representatives from the Student Committee. The instruments used were  a form of observation,  a set of questionnaires, a form of interview,  a form of evaluation and a form of record. The statistics used for data analysis were composed of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The findings of this study were as follows:

1. Regarding the states and problems on the students' manners at Savannakhet University, it was found that:                                                                                         

1.1 Some of the inappropriate manners of the students included impolite words spoken, speaking without polite endings lack of paying respect to the seniors, instructors, passing by the seniors without lowering head.  In case of sense of honor, the students never paid respect to the teachers or school guests passing by. The impolite words were usually used with their peers in the meetings. When the students  walked side by side with the seniors, they did not show the appropriate or gentle manners. The standing in line to pay salutation to the national flag and the National Anthem was in the wrong step and in the wrong way. When the students paid an audience with the seniors or teachers, the style of sitting on the chair was not in the modest manner.  Talking loud while eating, chewing food with a loud noise and lack of knowledge on welcoming guests existed.   

1.2 The problems and causes of all these problems originated from the lack of not doing as advised based on diverse environments, communities, society and habitats. In addition, the teachers did not really pay attention to these students; the students were not motivated to develop themselves. 

2. The guidelines on the development of the social etiquette of the students at  Savannakhet University, employed a six–activity strategy consisting of 1) a brain-storming meeting, 2) a meeting to train the students on knowledge about good manners, 3) workshops , 4) integration of good manners with every subject taught, 5) reinforcement technique, and 6) coaching supervision and evaluation to develop the student's good manners of speech, courtesy of listening, rules of respect, manner of walking, rules of standing and manner of sitting.

3. The effects of the monitoring and evaluation of the development of the students' manners revealed that those concerned were satisfied with the overall development at the high level. The strategies used could improve the students' manners in six aspects comprising: 1) The students used more polite words, 2) A talking on miscellaneous topics in class or in meetings was reduced, 3) When walking with the seniors or instructors, the students were more modest, 4) Being in line to pay respect to the national flag was in an appropriate manner, 5) The style of chair sitting in front of the seniors or teachers was in a more modest manner, 6) While walking back and forth the University, the students expressed themselves by paying respect to the instructors both arrivals and departures of the University with enthusiasm and willingness, 7) Eating at the University and at home were done with the modest manners, and 8) The welcoming of the guests in the University or at home was practiced with friendly manners along with the respected customs and traditions.
